About Tweed Net Marketing
Jason and Kristen Tweed founded Tweed Net Marketing in 2000. Jason had been a management consultant, market researcher and motivational speaker when he left his consulting firm and embarked on a full-time Web career.
The Beginning
The Internet as we know it was in its infancy. Jason has been online since 1996, (before the term "World Wide Web" was coined) and earning a full-time living developing web-based sales and marketing campaigns for his own companies and others.
His first company, Byram Street Gifts, sold NFL and NASCAR licensed merchandise exclusively over the web. An era when brick and mortar stores saw the web as a questionable endeavor, and online exclusives such as Amazon were still very unprofitable, his company turned a profit year after year until they sold it in 2002.
In 2001 Jason and Kristen, preparing for the impending birth of their twins, made the decision that one of them would be a stay-at-home parent. Kristen's career as a social worker would have been over, so Jason was elected to be a work-at-home dad. Turning their tiny utility room into a very tight two-person office, he began building the business known today as Tweed Net Marketing.
That first year was trying. The babies were born in May of 2002. Kristen was on light duty from January until their birth, the two of them work together until she returned to her career in August. Their taxable income for 2002 was less than $8,000.
Leap of Faith
That same year, Jason's father, Stephen Tweed, also a management consultant approached Jason about building a web based consultancy focused on the home health care industry.
It was a leap of faith, but the two of them created a company called Leading Home Care. Stephen literally shut down his marketing engine for his consulting firm and invested 100% of their marketing dollars in this new online endeavor. It paid off. The first year revenues increased a respectable 16%. Revenues increased over 100% in each of the next two years. The company grew from one consultant, a marketing person, and an administrative assistant into the largest most respected firm serving the industry today.
Private Duty Today, Stephen and Jason's second business together, creates information products and services for the non-medical home care industry. The business founded in 2004 was immediately profitable, and generates substantial revenue for its parent company. In 2008 the company merged with the largest print publication in serving the industry. The print publication was so impressed with the marketing engine for Private Duty Today that the merger included complete editorial control of the print publication.
Tweed Net Marketing Today
In 2005, Tweed Net Marketing moved to Northumberland Pennsylvania, and began to take additional outside clients. Still, technically a home-based business, the company has several employees with room to grow within the Tweed's 4000 ft.² home.
Kristen is still a full-time social worker, and part time company bookkeeper.
The web development staff manages websites for upwards of a dozen companies, all with service or information as their primary products.
The future is bright. A new strategic alliance was launched in January 2008; Tweed Net Marketing will be developing websites for a national network of home health aide agencies. In the first quarter of 2008, total client census doubled, and is expected to increase from 12 clients in 2007 to over 90 by the end of 2008.
Jason Tweed still answers the phone, although his role has shifted to be less hands-on. He still believes in putting the most knowledgeable people in the company directly in touch with customers. His small team of account managers, web developers, and support staff delivers highly profitable websites to companies who need them.
